Girl Crush: Alenka Bullen

I love this girl's voice. She does amazing covers.

Bob Dylan - Duquesne Whistle

I don't care how old he is... Dylan is sexy.

Painting, Santa & Corey Smith

When a coworker asks "How was your weekend?" and you reply with "It was amazing!" .... The details and photos are worth sharing.

The fun started Thursday night when a friend and I went out for painting and wine. Conversations are always fun over wine and some creativity.

Our lovely artwork we entitled: "Desert Foliage

Friday night I attended a special banquet where Noah dressed up as... Santa! Watching him light up all those little eyes was amazing. While some of the kiddos were more shy, others were nearly running around senseless with excitement. Any guy who can put on the red suit to keep the holiday spirit alive... is pretty incredible.

Now, a backstory... 4 or so years ago... Noah wooed me with a particular song. I wrote about it HERE. Well, we found out Saturday night that Corey Smith would be playing IN SEATTLE the next night! We had to go!! So we did.

And... we got to meet him!
We had a great time, and it was cool to hear our song played live. *Insert "awww" moment here*

On Repeat: The Heist

So there's this guy...His name is Macklemore.... You may or may not have heard of him. He's a pretty big deal in my book. Not only does he openly support marriage equality, but he's from Seattle. His new album, The Heist, is laced with Emerald City references, which is pretty cool to listen to.

My favorite song right now is Thrift Shop. I don't want to brag or anything, but I can rap (yes, rap) the entire song word-for-word. The boy thinks it's pretty hilarious.

Check it out...

These guys are awesome.

Have a Wonderful Weekend

My Mama is currently on her way up to spend the weekend with us. Tonight we are all going to a concert in the park to see Barenaked Ladies, Blues Traveler and Cracker. So much fun! Tomorrow, I am making french toast (so excited for a "cheat day") and we'll probably do a little mall shopping, and perhaps go to a tattoo place to just… uh… check it out. :)

Enjoy the weekend!

Same Love

When everyone else
Is more comfortable
Remaining voiceless
Rather than fighting for humans
That have had their rights stolen
I might not be the same
But that's not important
No freedom 'til we're equal
Damn right I support it

Super Suck Sunday

SUPER

  • The feeling of accomplishment. Last week was hectic… but with some planning and patience, I feel like I conquered the week.
  • The MUTE botton on the T.V. and phone. Fabulous solution to loud commercials, or needing to flush the toilet. Yes, sometimes I do pee and talk on the phone.
  • Birthdays and holidays. This week we get to celebrate both! The boy is a Valentine's Day baby. He gets two cards and some extra love on Tuesday.
  • Got a new tattoo in the works. Just figuring out the details.

SUCKS

  • People who choose the isle seat on the bus, so no one can get the window seat. You people are just rude.
  • That sticky-cold-sweaty-feeling you get when it's cold outside, so you're all bundled up, but you're running around so you get hot. Does that happen to anyone else? Just me?
  • Group papers. They say the purpose is to strengthen your group skills, but I think that's a total crock. I've been working in groups since kindergarden; I get it!
  • The loss of an amazing artist. I will always love you, Whitney.

Dylan

Amnesty International recently released Chimes of Freedom, the new 75-track, 80-plus artist collection that celebrates 50 years of both Bob Dylan's career and the good work done by the human rights organization.

I have been in love with Dylan since my Senior year of high school when I heard "Masters of War" on vinyl. I've seen Dylan live three times. He speaks to my soul.

I know I will not love every song on this CD. Some of his lyrics just can't be fully heard unless they are straight from Bob. But putting "artists" like Miley Cyrus and Ke$ha is a punch to the gut. Really? Ke$ha cries her entire way through "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright". I mean, c'mon girl. Alcohol is a depressant… were you unable to put down that bottle of Jack for just one second so you could tastefully lay down the iconic track? What a bitch. And Miley… oh Miley… I'm still recovering from your horrid "Climbing that mountain" song…double bitch.

All bitches aside...The lovely Adele does an amazing cover of Dylan's, "To Make You Feel My Love." I am biased because I adore Adele. and this is one of my favorite love songs of all time.

The man himself…
Dylan's, "Masters of War"
